Hyperfocus: Mimsy’s Birthday

Well my tiny one has turned five. She came in to cuddle and I asked “Do you feel bigger now?”

“Yes,” she replied with no hesitation.

I spent the week of her birthday making magic wands in my shop. The friend party was at the Birthday Girl’s favorite park in the woods and wands seemed like a great party favor idea. It took me three days to get them all finished and I had a delightful time.

Violet and I experimented with adding resin and gemstones to some success. The two cherry wands came from wood from a tree we took down a couple months ago that has been curing in my shop. I left one with a live edge and resined over the lichen. The second wand split pretty badly.

Mimsy asked for Barbie’s for her birthday so Grandpa bought her a dream house. It takes up half my living room at the moment…

At the friend party we had a nice turnout (considering I texted people less than a week ahead of time) and filled their little bellies with fruit, chips, and cupcakes. A delightful time was had by all, including parents, and after doing the math I realized this is my 102nd kid birthday. Pepper was thrilled to know her 21st was my 100th

Mims is thrilled to now be able to tell everyone she is five, and frequently adds “and soon I get to go to Kindergarten!!!”

Here’s to many more kiddo!

The wands were such a fun and popular party favor! They were a work of art too! Happy Birthday Linden!!
