Fair drop off is next week. For 4H kids, this is the big event of the year. For moms of 4H kids it means all the last second details.
This is the second time Violet has put off finishing her quilt until the last minutes and while she is far more independent that the last time, I still feel some responsibility to remind her to keep going.
I have two different sets of things going into fair myself; a set of historical sewing implements I have turned on my lathe, and a three piece set of 18th century garb. I’m also down to the wire on both projects but this week managed to get the most complicated piece of my sewing set—the thread tidy with wax keep acorn—finished…sort of. I’m in the gluing process with takes several days. Still, here is a sneak peek at the unglued but holding together version.
As for my sewing project, I have been cranking out a simple cap, which isn’t. A rolled hem gathering stitch is the closest thing to a waking nightmare I have encountered while sewing. Maybe I didn’t wax my thread enough? Maybe I took too small of stitches? Regardless, I have a ruffle to finish and attach and here’s hoping it goes better. The cap looks great though. Possibly worth the trouble.
And of course it wouldn’t be fair without paperwork. But no one is interested in the paperwork. So here is a cute picture instead.
