It is the shortest day of the year today and I spent most of it traveling home. We were without internet for a few days (hence the missing Wednesday post and this one coming in late) Celebrating the holiday with my dad out of state.
As the year is winding down, I have been thinking about what I would like to still get accomplished, what will go on my list for next year, and to some degree what I have accomplished in the past-almost 12 months.
Every month I keep track of my writing in my monthly log then add it to my bulletin board. This helps me keep things in perspective. It’s easy to feel like nothing is happening if we only measure success or progress with publishing contracts.
At the beginning of the week I sent in a list of things I would love to do at SquatchCon this coming year and got an enthusiastic Yes! So now I get to turn those ideas into workshops which keeps my head spinning with ideas when I ought to be sleeping.
I have a writer’s weekend planned with some girlfriends in January and there is a place I would like to be with my current book before then. This book has moved slower than the first two but the end is on the horizon. I have a very specific place I would like to be by New Year’s day and it feels reachable.
There are choices to be made about my next writing project. I have the first chapter of a palate cleanser book that could be quite publishable, if not my usual fare. Do I want to take a few months and just pump out a fun manuscript?
A new year promises new possibilities, new opportunities, and a million new ideas, but I have ten days left of this one to wrap up a few more goals and milestones. Thanks for Sticking with me!
See ya next year!
